Questions about CBD and Hemp

Yes and no. Hemp and marijuana are different strains of the same plant species (Cannabis sativa). They may look, smell, and taste the same, with one big difference: hemp has much less of the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that gives recreational users a "high".

Current legal definitions were established by the 2014 Farm Bill.

C. sativaplants with THC levels below 0.3% by weight are classified as hemp.

C. sativaplants with THC levels above 0.3% by weight are classified as marijuana, averaging 10-12% during the early 2010s.Read more.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the many cannabinoids produced by Cannabis Sativaplants. Both hemp and marijuana produce CBD. Unlike THC, CBD does not cause intoxication or euphoria.

CBD, other cannabinoids and terpenes work through the endogenous cannabinoid system (eCB). The eCB is naturally occurring system that is a part every human, just like the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Through the stresses of modern life and the prohibition against cannabinoids, our bodies develop eCB imbalances, which are linked to many states of unwellness.

No. THC is the psychoactive compound that gives users a "high", and CBD has no such effects.

Our full spectrum products contain <0.3% THC. Recreational marijuana contains about 10% THC. Our products simply won't get you there.

Straight Hemp fullest spectrum hemp oil contains all of hemp's most beneficial constituents: CBD and other cannabinoids extracted using clean 'solventless' CO2 extraction technology, terpenes water distilled from the aerial parts of fresh essential oil rich hemp plants and certified organic cold-pressed Omega-3 rich hemp seed oil. This is important because we know CBD is more readily absorbed with all of hemp’s natural constituents intact. While it’s mechanism is still not fully understood, the data suggests that hemp’s cannabinoids, terpenes and fats all work together to facilitate CBD’s absorption and potentiate CBD’s effects.

Yes, in fact,  these plants naturally produce at least 64 other cannabinoids and probably even more different terpenes. Almost all of these are produced in  nearly undetectable quantities.  Together, they create what is known as the 'entourage effect’: a complex synergy that appears to heighten the individual therapeutic effects of each of these compounds. Terpenes are rather delicate flavonoids that are largely responsible for the  flavors and aromas of our hemp products. You don't have to be an expert to taste the difference, although identifying exactly which of these molecules you're tasting can be difficult.

We don't see the need to take away all the other plant goodies that hemp makes available for our use. Nature has an intelligence to it, and you deserve the full spectrum of wellness it has to offer. Read more.

Product Questions

Our Full Spectrum products (such as our CBD Oil, Balm, and Vape Oil) contain less than 0.3% THC. If you are subject to THC tests, we recommend speaking with your employer, drug test staff, and doctor beforehand.

It’s a bit complicated. The FDA has approved one product containing CBD, Epidiolex. It’s only available with a Doctor’s prescription, costs tens of thousands of dollars per year to use regularly and is only prescribed for childhood seizure disorder. Thankfully, many states have passed laws making CBD legal to purchase without a prescription from your local health food or CBD specialty store. Please check with your state health department if you are unsure if CBD is lawful in your state.Click here for a Store Directory.

We recommend consulting with your physician prior to adding CBD to your daily routine.

We use certified organic ingredients as much as possible. 94.6% of our Oils are comprised of 93.1% organic ingredients. Balms are 38% organic and we are working hard to transition to USDA organic certification as soon as possible.

To maximize the shelf life of your product please store in a cool, dry place. You can also store our products at room temperature or chilled in the refrigerator. Straight Hemp Balm should always have the lid tightened after use.
